Yes, Prospero is good. He has powers that he's been studying for for a long time, and he prizes them over his dukedom, and he can use them for just about anything, but he is really wise, and even tho in the beginning he wants revenge for what his brother did to him, he realizes that 'the rarer action is in virtue than in vengeance' and he forgives his brother, sets Caliban free, and sets Ariel free. He also provides his daughter with happy life, safe life on the island for 12 years, and then lets her meet a great man that loves her and insures her happy life from there.
