Being a soprano or mezzo-soprano deals more with the timbre, or tone color of a voice rather than the notes an individual can sing. This comes in to consideration mostly after puberty and as the voice changes. In choirs, children are divided to where they are most comfortable and can blend the easiest. Children 12 years old should be focusing on singing as healthy as possible and if they are serious it, with the guidance of a voice teacher so as not to do damage. It is possible to do 'too much' on a young voice, which includes, singing too loud, singing too low or high without guidance and singing more than a couple hours day.

Can a mezzo soprano play in phantom of the opera musical as Christine?

Christine is a very challenging part to play vocally, largely due to the incredibly high notes that she has to sustain throughout the show. A mezzo-soprano will have a much harder time hitting those notes than a soprano. That being said, if she could hit the high notes then there would be no reason why she couldn't play Christine.

What is the difference between mezzo sopranos and first sopranos?

I think that mezzo-sopranos slightly have heavier and darker tones than first sopranos. First sopranos usually have high-pitched, squeaky singing voices. Sopranos are more comfortable in their higher tessitura and can sing high notes with ease. Mezzo-sopranos have a range intermediate between that of the soprano and contralto.

What is the difference between second soprano and first soprano?

Second Soprano: Should be able to hit notes close to a high c. Sing higher then the altos. Have a sweet voice, altos usually have low talking voices. First Soprano: Are to hit the highest notes above a high c. Should be able to sing and hold high notes.

Which is better mezzo soprano or spinto soprano?

Impossible to answer as they are two different vocal ranges. Each voice must be judged individually. The difference between a spinto and a mezzo would not lie as much in the notes that can be reached, either higher or lower, as in where the voice sounds best. Some people have voices which one teacher might diagnose as a mezzo, while another teacher might diagnose as a dramatic soprano, or at least a spinto. Some roles, such as Carmen or Santuzza have historically been sung by both mezzos and sopranos. Singers such as Grace Bumbry have started as mezzos, and later moved up to some soprano roles. You can look on YOUTUBE and see a video of her singing both Amneris and Aida in a big duet. For some people the choice is clear, for other people, it is a question that can only be answered over time. It might be easier to find more work as a mezzo, but if one spends too much time singing in the wrong range, one could strain the voice.

What is the difference between an alto and a mezzosoprano in vocal music?

Altos and mezzosAlto is one vocal range lower than mezzosoprano. For more information, go to en.wikipedia.org and type in "alto" and "mezzosoprano". There are some nice graphics on Wikipedia that can show you the difference in the notes that altos sing compared to the ones that mezzosopranos sing.More importantly, the way to distinguish between a tenor and an alto is very simple. Only one has hair on their back.[ a tenor is usually a guy and alto's are more common in women ( XoXo Team Jasper Fan ]you usually hear Mezzosoprano in Opera. You hear alto there too but alto is more common in girls that sing todays music such as Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato. An example of a mezzosoprano would be Emmy Rossum. Emmy sings in The Phantom of the Opera as Christine Daee. Christine Daee is suppose to be a Soprano but Emmy is a mezzosoprano so her voice is much lower in octave than the original script had called for. Can you sing both mezzosoprano and alto? You sure can. I sing both alto and mezzosoprano. Can you sing both mezzosoprano and soprano? No and yes. If you can control your octaves you can go higher and sing Soprano if you sing mezzo but only if youre trained, which I was. Soprano usually breaks glass. Mezzo does not break glass. Is mezzo-alto is similar to soprano?

No, altos are not the same as mezzo-sopranos. Altos are the lowest voice part, followed by mezzo-soprano. While most of the time they sing harmony to sopranos, they are not the same.

How do you decide if you're a soprano mezzo soprano or alto without using music notes?

For some people, it is clear that their voice is better higher or lower. For others, a choir director may place them in the section where he needs them at the time. This can be particularly confusing for those who have a wide vocal range or who have a bigger voice that needs training. It should be easy to tell if one has a light soprano voice. The ability to hit low notes is not a guarantee that one is an alto (or contralto). A dramatic soprano would also have low notes, but would need training to develop the high notes. A mezzo would be able to vocalize in a similar range to a dramatic soprano, so it is not a simple question of what notes can be reached. A soprano would only spend a little time singing at the lower part of her range. A mezzo would only spend a little time singing at the higher part of her range - like one good high note at the end. A contralto would spend a lot of time singing at the lower part of her range. Voices can also be judged by whether they are brighter or darker. There would be a tendency for a higher voice to be brighter and for a lower voice to be darker, but there are variations within the mezzo category and within the soprano category. Italian dramatic soprano roles tend to be for darker voices than German dramatic soprano roles, even if the range is similar. Rossini mezzo-soprano roles would be brighter than Verdi. There are also "soubrette" roles in Mozart, which might be comfortable for either a light mezzo or a light soprano. The mezzo would probably sound a little more mature than a soubrette, whose voice and looks and personality all emphasize a youthful quality.

Is kesha mezzo soprano or alto?

She is an underdeveloped soprano. Her voice is light like a soprano, but is not developed like a true soprano. Very few women are true contraltos, a good example is Pink. A mezzo-soprano has a "darker" vocal quality, but not the depth of a contralto. Lady Gaga and Gwen Stefani are mezzo-sopranos. Vocal type is based on timbre or tone quality, not range. Many sopranos, such as Mariah Carey, have the ability to sing extreme low notes. ---- Because of the excessive use of autotune, you will never know. Allow me to fix some of this yes P!nk is an alto but so is Mariah.
