Now the poetess remembers that's how her mother used to look at that photograph years later. Her mother used to smile and point out how the girls were dressed for a holiday on the beach. The poetess remembers her mother's smile.

At the end, the poetess is saying that her mother passed away 12 years ago. Her mother lost her holiday on the beach, and she has lost her mother. The poetess feels the silence of sadness, considering the memories of a past that cannot be relived.
