The cha cha cha originated in Cuba. It was named the cha cha cha because that it is supposedly what the ladies feet sounded like when they moved along the floor. It is a Latin American dance. It is danced to the music of the same name introduced by Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrín in 1953. This rhythm was developed from the danzón by a syncopation of the fourth beat.
