Thomas Seymour was Queen Elizabeth's guardian for less than two years when she was fourteen and fifteen years old. His guardianship ended when he was accused of treason against his nephew and Elizabeth's half-brother the king. In the course of the investigation, those who were hostile to Elizabeth's interests sought to show that she had been intimate with Seymour and thus involved in his treasonous plans. They were unable to find any evidence of this; had Elizabeth borne him a child there would certainly have been some evidence. Besides, Elizabeth was under constant scrutiny all her life and would not have been able to conceal a pregnancy, especially before she became Queen when she had many enemies.

In any case, Seymour was executed in 1549 and Shakespeare was baptised (an event which normally took place within a few days of a child's birth to improve its chances of salvation should it die shortly thereafter) on April 26, 1564. As remarkable a woman as Elizabeth was, she was not so remarkable as to have a fifteen-year gestation period.

If a person were a conspiracy theorist, one could call the baptismal record into question, since it is really the only evidence we have of Shakespeare's birth, but if he really was born in 1549, what was he doing between then and 1582 when he was marrying Anne Hathaway and fathering Susanna?

In a fantasy world, as I said. The fact of the matter is that some people cannot accept that one of the world's greatest writers was not born of noble parents but was the son of a country glover. If they cannot make him into the Earl of Oxford, then they want to make him a bastard son of the Queen.

Did William Shakespeare have a family and what are their names?

Yes. William Shakespeare was married to Anne Hathaway, together they had three children. A daughter named Susannah and twins Hamnet (male) and Judith (female). Hamnet died when he was 11 of unknown causes. Susannah married Dr John Hall and had a daughter named Elizabeth. Judith married Thomas Quincey and had three sons: Shakespeare, Richard and Thomas all of whom died before Judith.

What are some untrue legends told about William Shakespeare?

1. William Shakespeare did not write his plays. This is the most obviously untrue and yet most persistent of such legends. 2. William Shakespeare was a personal friend of Queen Elizabeth I. Again, obviously untrue. Players did not associate with queens. 3. William Shakespeare was the leader of a playing company. No, he was a member, but Richard Burbage was the leader. 4. William Shakespeare was responsible for the construction of the Globe Theatre. No, that was Burbage. Shakespeare only loaned him some money. 5. Shakespeare had to leave Stratford because he was accused of poaching deer belonging to Sir William Lucy. Apart from the lack of evidence for this romantic tale, Lucy did not keep deer. 6. Shakespeare was Thomas Betterton's father. Since the only source of this dubious tale is Betterton himself, for whom it would be a considerable financial benefit, we can easily dismiss it.

Are any of William shakespeares children still alive?

There are no living descendants of William Shakespeare; the last one was his granddaughter Elizabeth who died in the seventeenth century. Presumably some people must be related to him, decended from his nephew Thomas Hart.

What connections did Shakespeare have with Elizabeth the first?

The author Paul Streitz, director of the Oxford Institute, theorizes that William Shakespeare was the pen name of Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford in the book "Oxford, Son of Queen Elizabeth I." His theory is as follows: After the death of her father, 12 year old Elizabeth lived in the court of her step-mother, Katherine Parr. Thomas Seymour proposed to Elizabeth, but she rejected him, so he instead married Parr. When Parr was 6 months pregnant, she and Seymour moved to Sudeley Castle, leaving the now 14 year old Elizabeth in seclusion. History records Elizabeth fell ill that year, 1548, but no mention of what illness. Apparently Streitz found some historical documentation from a midwife, brought to Cheshunt (where Elizabeth was in seclusion) to care for a 'fair young lady' who'd given birth. Streitz further claims to have found testimony of "gross impropriety" taken by Seymour with his step-daughter, Elizabeth. Katherine Parr died in childbed, and the child was supposedly raised by John de Vere, 16th Earl of Oxford. Streitz also points out that later, in 1571, the line of succession was changed by Elizabeth I's councellor William Cecil to name that child, named Edward de Vere, as the heir to her throne. If Streitz is correct, that would mean the true royal family of England would in fact be the descendants of William Shakespeare via the Tudor line. Of course, this theory, lacking as it does any credible evidence to support it, is either ignored or dismissed fairly summarily by almost all scholars. Christopher Paul, himself a believer in the theory that de Vere wrote Shakespeare's works, has written a detailed article outlining the flaws in Streitz's book. Most scholars would take the view that even if Edward de Vere happened to be Elizabeth's son (or as Streitz would have us believe, both her son and paramour!), it is no support for the idea that de Vere wrote Shakespeare's works, which most of them reject. ANSWER: The above is like the English version of America's many conspiracy theories. People love to read about them but there is no evidence whatsoever. The De Vere wrote Shakespeare theory has less evidence than Roswell aliens. So the short answer is that William Shakespeare of Stratford-Upon-Avon who's name appears on the works of William Shakespeare is NOT related to Elizabeth I. She was however his patron and he performed his plays for her at court.

When did thomas Seymour propose to elizabeth?

Thomas Seymour never proposed to Elizabeth! He was Katherine parr's husband, and Elizabeth's guardian when she was taken in by Katherine parr after hermother's death. I'm pretty sure guardians do NOT propose to the children in their care, specially if they are married men!

Did Queen Elizabeth have a child with Thomas Seymour?

No, there is no evidence, only suspicions at the time. However, it does appear that Seymour paid unhealthy attention to Elizabeth when she was around 14. It would seem that his aim was to marry Elizabeth, which he didn't achieve, but ended up being beheaded for treason.
