Houdini did many effects that were very real. It was him jumping off bridges handcuffed, escaping from jail cells after being strip searched, escaping from straighjackets and all sorts of devices. Houdini was also a magician so of course magic is not real. Houdini himself stated that he "posessed no supernatural powers...he just did tricks that nobody can explain".

Is the nailed at nine commercial real?

I am Scot Nery, a juggler and object manipulator. They hired me to perform in the commercial. Though I could do some of the tricks for real, they looked much smoother with computer graphics. The nail in the video is completely computer generated by King & Country ( http://kingandcountry.tv/ ) We shot quite a few real juggling tricks, unfortunately, they used only the fake ones. The hammer is real, the nail is fake. Here's a video of the ad ( http://stuntgood.com/nailed.html )
