Yes. It was considered a public indecency. The notorious Elizabethan female transvestite Mary Frith was prosecuted for appearing on the stage of the Fortune theatre and singing a song. (possibly in the play The Roaring Girl which was written about her.)
Elizabethan theater involved several theater companies of actors and playwrights. In London the globe theater was in use and Shakespeare was performing his works. There were no female actresses during Elizabethan times, instead young teenage boys would play female roles.
there were no female actors in the 1600's, there were only men. so many men had to play the roles of women. these actors had to sometimes use their own belongings as props and/or make their own costumes (not usually though). many times the theatres were open ampitheatres so they would have to work in any weather.
I believe it was around 6 times a week. If not, no one really knows how many.
Many many times. How do we know this? Because it was against the law to miss church and if you missed you had to pay a fine. If Shakespeare had made a habit of missing church it would have cost him a fortune and probably have landed him in jail.
I was "unfortunate enough" to learn this technique while working in a commercial with a beautiful starlet. The actors are placed at an angle that prevents the camera from actually "seeing" the actual kiss. The actors make the head movements of kissing, but the lips aren't actually touching. This is commonly referred to as a "Hollywood Kiss". (addition) Not to say the above answer is wrong, for there are certainly times when this technique is utilized, but there are obviously plenty of times when the viewer/audience has full visibility of the kiss, and in those cases, it's as simple as professionalism. The actor/actress is professional and has to perform said act making it convincing, but... no tongue, unless the part calls for it.
