In the play it does not mention what the feud is about or howit started. It is thought that the feud has been going on for such a long time that even the families don't remember what it was about. Despite this, the ladies and lords of both houses are too stuborn to stop the feud from continuing, and even the servants hate each other because the families do.

Some say there is a hint in 5.2.84-85 when Romeo says "there is thy gold, worse than poison to men's souls, doing more murder in this loathsome world.

The generally accepted explanation is that the feud goes so far back, no one can remember who started it. Not unlike some long-term world conflicts today, it's less of an issue of who started it and more of an issue of who'll finish it. Until the deaths of the lovers, neither family wants to seek peace and show a sign of submissiveness or weakness. The seemingly pointless rivalry between the two families is a tragic point top the story often skipped in favor of the misadventure of specific characters.

Shakespeare said in the book that they fought over wether to have peace or war in Verona. Capulets wanted war and Montagues wanted peace.

Not sure what your question is, but the above sentence is completely wrong.

The reason for the feud was never given, and the feud was so old that the families had forgotten why it had started.
