A set is the backdrop and 'solid' items that create the place of the scene. Props are placed in sets to add reality and are often carried on an off the set by the actors.
Usually props and wires, lighting and such, its a complicated sequence, you need light, backgrounds, props, and good actors.
In drama, different types of sets can include realistic sets, which aim to replicate real-life environments; abstract sets, which use symbolic elements to convey themes or emotions; and minimalistic sets, featuring few props or backdrops to focus on the actors' performances. Additionally, multi-functional sets can change throughout the production to represent different locations, while site-specific sets are designed for a particular location, enhancing the immersive experience. Each type serves to enhance the storytelling and engage the audience.
Props are items which are used on stage to help convey meaning. Simply put, if a company is doing a production of the Wizard of Oz, some vital props might be the Tin Man's axe, Dorothy's basket, and the Munckin's lolipop. Another example, if a company is doing a production of the Three Little Bears, the bowls of porridge would be considered props.
