When you're ready to sell your paintings, you are no longer thinking in terms of art. You're now dealing in commerce. You cannot afford to be self-inflated and delusional.
Start showing your paintings to individuals who actually buy paintings and listen to their feedback. Don't argue, explain or even react to their responses to your paintings. Just listen and thank them for their help. (Remember, you have placed them in a potentially uncomfortable position.) Try to ascertain if you are ready for a coffee-house show, a small gallery, a showing in a library or an approach to a larger gallery or show. It's just like sports or starting a band. You start out with smaller, regional competitions/shows, then work your way up, as your work and business skills develop. Selling online is tricky. People who do well online tend to be already established. One has to basically know to look for you in particular. It's easier to fall in love with something on the wall in front of you, even if it's by an "unknown." So, get live bodies in front of your paintings.
Your initial contacts will lead you to more and more appropriate contacts. Where you live is highly important. Do you live in a poor urban area? An affluent urban area? Do you live in rural farmland? A vacation getaway town?
Get folks to hang your paintings in their upscale restaurants under the condition that a small name card (with your contact info.) hang next to each painting. What you want to do is build a word-of-mouth clientele. This is the strongest base an artist can have. Nurture those relationships and never, ever adopt the demeanor of a primadonna. Donate one of your "crowd-pleasers" to a charity auction. Get the word out. And, most of all, keep painting and growing. Good luck out there.
