Noh is a form of Japanese classical musical drama in which there are 4 major categories of performers (shite, waki, kyogen,hayashi ). Lots of the characters wear masks and males play female roles.

Together with the closely related Kyogen face Noh evolved from folk and aristocratic art forms.

Traditionally the artists rehearse together only once a few days before the performance. This means the mood is not set by any one performer but established by interaction of the performers all together
