The responsibilities and duties as a comedian is to make you're audience laugh and keep them entertained. Also to be responsible for writing and editing their own jokes and promoting themselves.

An entertainer must be an outgoing person, unafraid to make bold choices. Let's take musicians for a moment: if a musician is playing a set of country tunes and the room of people isn't reacting too terribly well to it, that artist must then change their entire set, unplanned, to something that will please the audience and gain them more recognition. Another characteristic of an entertainer is punctuality. You must always, always be on time. Reputation means everything in the entertainment industry, and you can't be a flake.

Advantages?? Hmm. Advantage over what? Assuming you mean advantage over another profession. AND assuming that you WANT to be an entertainer, I'd say, you get to do something for a living that you love doing. That is the greatest "advantage". You also get to bring some joy and "entertaining" relief to many people. Not too many other professions can claim that. You also get to meet lots of interesting people, visit exciting places, and generally do something that not too many other people are able to do. And that's about it, because everything else related to being an entertainer is VERY, VERY hard work. So no other real "advantages" to any other profession.
