The people who went to the plays didn't pay much attention. It was an interesting mixture of people. There were 3 levels on the theater. On the bottom floor were standing men who were very noisy and talking, shoving, and yelling. A lady sold Oranges to this crowd. On the second level was usually couples sitting. These were usually men out with their mistress/or wife. Some did pay attention to the plays. The third level was really busy with "working women" plying their "trade" to the men on the bottom floor. They were very busy and very loud. The plays used ghosts and other elements to keep the audience watching.

They were noisy. If they liked the play, they would listen and cheer at the end. If they didn't like it they would heckle the actors and throw things at them.
