There has been doctors who listen to music- from record players, cd players, tape recorders and even mobile phones- in theatres while doing complicated surgeries. It is their kind of relief and stimulation, and is not a handicap at all of a professional. The staff working with them would always be knowing about their habits. The patient lying sedated will never be disturbed anyway. So, a doctor working on a patient while reciting poetry is still a doctor.
