Shakespeare's play doesn't say any more than it is an "ancient grudge". From the point of view of the play, the reason for the enmity is irrelevant. However, from a strictly academic standpoint, it is interesting to note that one of the Italian versions of the story, that of Luigi da Porto in 1530, altered the previous versions of the story by setting it in Verona and naming the main characters Guiletta Capuletti and Romeo Montecchi. The Capuletti and Montecchi families were real families referred to in Dante's Inferno, although the Capuleti were from Cremona, not Verona. The Montecchi were Ghibellines and the Capuleti were Guelfs, members of two bitterly opposed factions in Italian politics from the twelfth to the fifteenth century. In broad terms, the Ghibellines held that the ultimate source of political authority was the Holy Roman Emperor, whereas the Guelfs held that the ultimate source of political authority was the Pope. The Ghibellines tended to be aristocratic; the Guelfs bourgeois. Ultimately the rivalry became as bitter, silly and irrelevant as it is shown to be in Shakespeare's play. Indeed in 1325 Guelfs in Bologna declared war on Modena because some Ghibellines from Modena had stolen a wooden bucket belonging to the city of Bologna. Luigi da Porto's story specifically sets the tale in the early years of the fourteenth century, about the same time as the war of the bucket and is clearly the direct ancestor of Arthur Brooke's poem, Shakespeare's source for the play.

Who is Escalus in romeo and Juliet?

The prince states that hes got MONTAGUE IN HIS BLOOD, so he's a Montague. Actually the prince does not say that he has "Montague in his blood" at all. He does say: "Capulet, Montague, see what a scourge is laid upon your hate, that heaven finds means to kill your joys with love. And I, for winking at your discords too, have lost a brace of kinsmen." Capulet and Montague have lost their "joys", their children. But the Prince has lost kinsmen over and above those, and just two of them (Mercutio and Paris). The Prince, Mercutio and Paris belong to a family that is neither Montague nor Capulet. That is why Mercutio says, "A plague on both your houses." He is cursing Montagues and Capulets, but not his own house, which is different.

Why does Tybalt hate Romeo?

As a Capulet, Tybalt has been brought to hate all Montagues, to which family Romeo belongs. When he hears Romeo's voice at the Capulet masked ball, to which no Montagues have been invited, he is outraged and wants to fight him then but is told to quieten down. Hoever they meet in the street the following day and fight there, which is when Romeo kills Tybalt.

How did the Capulets and montagues start fighting?

Well, the feud between the two families has been going on for such a long time, it was going on even before the two lovers[Romeo & Juliet] were even born. It had even been going on for so long, that nobody in the family really remembers why the feud had begun in the first place.

The Main Reason why blood is pumped by the heart into the lungs?

The lungs provide for gas exchange between the blood and the air. So when your heart pumps blood to your lungs, the lungs provide an area for blood to absorb oxygen from the air we breath in and to rid its self of excess carbon dioxide, which is then exhaled.

What does from forth the fatal loins of these two foes mean?

Shakespeare: The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet From the Prologue (spoken by Chorus) Two houses, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean. From forth the fatal loins of these two foes A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life...

Who insults Romeo and Juliet's family?

I don't know whether we can answer this one, because it is not clear what family you are talking about. Since Romeo and Juliet are married, they both belonged to both the Capulets and Montagues. So who insults both? Mercutio, when he says "A plague on both your houses." The prince, too, says "See what a scourge is laid upon your hate that heaven finds means to kill your joys with love" which is admonishment to both families. The chorus, too, insults them when he says "civil blood makes civil hands unclean."
