Musical theatre offers a unique blend of storytelling through both dialogue and song, allowing for deeper emotional expression and heightened dramatic moments that a traditional play may not achieve. The integration of music and choreography can enhance the narrative, creating a more immersive experience for the audience. Additionally, the energy and spectacle of live performances, combined with musical numbers, can evoke feelings of joy and excitement that are distinct to the genre. Overall, the combination of visual, auditory, and emotional elements in musical theatre creates a multifaceted experience that sets it apart from traditional plays.
Musical theatre came out of Burlesque*, the first " book musical" being "The Black Crook", which opened on Broadway in September of 1866. There are many books that detail the history of American Musical Theatre, you might begin with a search on amazon.com for titles that you can then take to the library.Ethan Morddenhas a whole series, decade by decade, which might be a good place to start.*Keep in mind, too, that Burlesque at that time referred to performances where dancing girls wore tights or bloomers that showed the shape of their legs, not the feather and tassel Burlesque you might think of today.
I think it was in 1997.
I dont think they invented it. I think they started doing theatre in Greece and had to think of what to call it.
Nothing. The Globe theatre was one of the Elizabethan theatres. Think of "Elizabethan" as a time or type, not an actual theatre with that name.
There are 14 sides I think!
Honestly, the skills I THINK you need to be in musical threate (spell error) are dedication, talent, confidence, creativty, and except the unexcepted!
Well first of all, find a Stage Coach or singing teacher that you can see often (once a week is best). It doesn't matter if it is a group or private, if they do show music or musical theatre, this is a good start. Then, try out a few musical theatre exams, and enter a festival under the show songs category and competitions. These will build you confidence, and give you scope to what other people think of you performing. Audition for shows (AUDITION AUDITION AUDITION, MORE AUDITIONS!) and try out anything, even pantomime! DO what even you can to gain a portfolio and expierence. After a while, if you think you are good enough and you love it more than anything, get an agent, and they will do what they can to get you roles in musical theatre.
I think drama is action that is clipped and showed in theatre

A theatre is a building and a person cannot become part of a building. What, do you think Shakespeare was a door or a railing? Shakespeare was part of a Theatrical Company, that is to say, a group of actors, called the Lord Chamberlain's Men and later The King's Men.
