All those who die as enemy Argive or as collaborating Thebans are to be left above ground and exposed to the elements, dogs, and birds. Teiresias tells King Creon to have proper burial rites and rituals carried out for those corpses that are treated so disrespectfully. He also tells the King to release Antigone from her certain death in a lonely, remote, walled-up cave.
