he means that god is dead dont you get it of course it means god is dead this is my answer- hope its alright Proctor is in shock that Danforth believes Mary Warren after she accuses Proctor of working with the devil. He means that God must be dead if He allows the witch trials to happen. Proctor says Danforth will go to hell because he knows the whole thing is "fraud".
