Linear in drama terms means that the story follows a chronological order from past to present and possibly to future. The term is used to help determine the structure of the story.
In drama terms 'tone' means how you want to make your voice sound. Say perhaps you were pretending to be from France you would make your voice sound like a Frenchman.
Reverting canon is when dancers start a phrase at the same time, but at different points within the phrase. They end the phrase at the same time. :)
