'Aaron Burr'Aside from the Aaron Burr' book listed above, Kerkhoff also wrote a bio-situation entitled "Traitor, Traitor" a bio of French Artillary officer who was charged with treason. Given the political atmosphere at the time, Dryfus, a Jew, was tried and convicted. Later in his life, Dryfus was exonerated.
Kerkhoff (American>---English and Dutch descent) 3rd major work is entitled, "How Thin The Veil" It is a story of his own mental illness, checking himself into a mental ward in the Traverse City Hospital.
Kerkhoff was mainly a newspaperman. First, Traverse City News, Detrit Free Press, Philadelphia Free Press and Hearts Journal American in NYC where he was not just a crackerjack rewrite man and reporter as well as a columnist about comings and goings of famous people.
He was married to poet Ellen Hogue and the had two children, Mary Ellen and Jacqueline.
One more note: Johnston (Jack) Davis Kerkhoff was my grandfather. As a little girl, I adored him. My mother was Jacqueline Kerkhoff McCurdy.
