C. W. Newman-Sanders has written: 'Scottish dancing; how to do the eightsome reel and other Scottish country dances'
Any Scottish highland dance is performed in a Kilt. Highland Dances include the Highland Fling, the Highland Reel, Strathsbey Reel, the Seann Triubhas, the and the Sword Dance. These dances are solo, athletic performances, usually performed competitively at highland games. Another dance performed at highland games is the Irish Jig, but it is not usually performed in a kilt. Highland dancing is different from Scottish Country dancing, which consists of social dancing in pairs, and is made up of reels, jigs and Strathsbeys. Scottish country dancing is also done in kilt.
