Who is the villain in Much ado nothing?

Don John, the illegitimate brother of Don Pedro, Prince of Aragon. He plots to make Don John miserable by making Claudio (one of Don Pedro's soldiers) think Hero (Claudio's bride-to-be and niece of Don Pedro's host Leonato) has been unfaithful - and in the process embarrass his brother when Claudio dumps Hero in front of everyone. The plan almost works - Claudio believes the deception and publicly humiliates Hero and her uncle Leonato by publicly rejecting Hero just before the wedding but the nightwatch stumbles upon Don John's accomplices and learns what really transpired. The accomplices are taken into custody, Claudio and Hero get married after all, and Don John is captured (offstage).

What is the mistake in judgment that Pedro and Claudio make about Hero?

Claudio is deeply suspicious of others, for no good reason. When Don Pedro asks Leonato for her hand for Claudio, Claudio immediately believes Don John's suggestion that Don Pedro is after Hero himself, and that Hero would instantly change her affection to Don Pedro. He is also instantly ready to believe that she spent the night before her wedding in bed with another man when Don John proposes this (although with some fairly persuasive trumped-up evidence). Nevertheless, if he knew Hero he would be skeptical of the suggestion that she was unfaithful and not so willing to believe the worst of her. One cannot help thinking that he will make Hero a poor husband. As for Don Pedro, he does not have any particular reason to assess Hero's character one way or the other, but he does know the character of his brother and should have been skeptical of anything Don John said, since he was a proven liar and troublemaker.

What situation from Much Ado about Nothing has tension?

There are two plotlines, each with their own set of tensions which drive the play's plot. On the one hand we have the tension between Beatrice and Benedick's lifelong habit of cynicism as against their genuine love for each other. On the other we have the internal tension between Claudio's love for Hero and his weak and suspicious nature. Further tension is introduced by the character of Don John, who enjoys making trouble for its own sake. (There is tension in Don Pedro from his desire to reconcile with his brother and his knowledge of his character) Don John's plot succeeds in driving Claudio from Hero and leading her to treat her shamefully in public view. This creates tension between those who continue to defame Hero's character (Don Pedro and Claudio) and those who are ready to defend it (Leonato and just about everyone else). Benedick is put into the awkward position of having to choose sides between his friend and his patron on the one hand and the woman he loves on the other. Don John wants to do something to hurt Claudio

How does the audience feel towards Don John in Much Ado about Nothing?

(I really need help this is for a GCSE course and I need inspiration on this) I really recommend that you take two hours and watch the Kenneth Branagh movie of this play. Then you will be one of the audience and will know exactly how the audience feels about Don John (who is played by Keanu Reeves in that movie in case you have trouble spotting him).

Why can't Benedick and Beatrice get along in Much Ado about Nothing?

Don Pedro describes them as being in "a merry battle of wits". Both of them want to be safe, to avoid being vulnerable to being hurt by the other. They therefore verbally abuse each other and the idea of love. In fact, they are attracted to one another as Don Pedro sees, but they are frightened by that attraction and by the unsafe and vulnerable position of being the first to confess it. Don Pedro and the others break down that fear by telling each of them (apparently without knowing it) that the other has confessed to being attracted already. Why are they so frightened of revealing their feelings? There is a hint that Beatrice, at least, has already been hurt in love and doesn't want to repeat it.

What are the characteristics of a choleric melancholy personality?

The choleric-melancholic and the melancholic-choleric temperaments. In this one, two serious, passionate temperaments are mixed; the pride, obstinacy, and anger of the choleric with the morose, unsocial, reserved temper of the melancholic. Persons who have such a mixture of temperaments must cultivate a great deal of self-control, in order to acquire interior peace and not to become a burden to those with whom they work and live.

What did John don pay barochio to do?

Don John got Borachio to make love to his girlfriend in Hero's bedroom calling her Hero all the while. Meanwhile Don John got Don Pedro and Hero's fiancé Claudio to stand under the window to overhear all this lovemaking and moaning of Hero's name. Naturally, Claudio could come to only one conclusion. It's hard to figure out why Borachio's girlfriend would go along with this, though. Or indeed why she doesn't speak up at the wedding.
