Shakespeare was married to Anne Hathaway, a woman from the village of Shottery not far from Stratford. He was 18, she was 26. They got a marriage licence on November 27, 1582. We are not sure where an when the ceremony took place. Anne was pregnant at the time. Their first baby, a girl called Susanna, was baptised on May 26, 1583. She grew up and married Doctor John Hall, and they had one daughter, Elizabeth, who went on to get married herself but had no children. William and Anne Shakespeare also had twins, Hamnet Shakespeare (Baptised February 2, 1585, buried August 11, 1596) and Judith Shakespeare. Judith went on to marry a vintner called Quiney and they had three sons but no grandchildren.
