The grass dance is a very traditional dance used by the Plains tribes primarily. It is also amazing to watch and takes many years to perfect. Years ago, grass dancers would be sent into the area where a nomadic tribe was going to set up camp. In the spirit of never hurting the earth mother, their responsibility was to lay the tall grasses down in such a way as to bend them, not break them. Thus the land could be left as untouched as possible once the tribe moved on. It was a very spiritual dance and difficult to learn. It is also one of the most amazing, but not flashy, dances to watch.

What type of dance can you perform outside?
The only form of dance that i wouldn't recommend performing outside is pointe, unless you plan on bringing a dance floor along with you. Now if you are dancing in grass you just need to make sure that you're OK with doing ballet or jazz or contemporary barefooted or in sneakers of some kind. Hip hop is probably the easiest style to perform outside simply because you don't really have to worry about what type of ground you'll be dancing on.Answer:There are many dances performed primarily outside.
