Actually, an "actor" is one who is significantly talented, and is either male or female. An actor can portray a character on stage, in films, or on television. An "actress", on the other hand, is a female who has very low acting ability, but nonetheless gets roles in those mediums. Usually her career is based on her looks and appeal, not any talent. A female actor is offended if called an "actress'. Unfortunately, there isn't a term for male stars with little to no talent. I'll just say this: Meryl Streep, Charlize Theron, and Helen Mirren are "actors". Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, and Eva Longoria are "actresses".
