Hi, You have to do your homework. My daughter is becoming a pageant favorite, and is on her way to winning her third title, but that was not always the case. The first pageant she did was NAM. We knew nothing about pageants, so she did not do well. But look at her now! The key to winning a pageant is to do a lot of them. You want people, including the judges to know who you are before you even take the stage. My daughter placed 11th at her first Nationals pageant for American Coed, but my daughter was well known before we landed at Orlando International Airport. My daughter had already done one television show, and 5 movies. Plus she has her won Facebook fanpage and about 25 Youtube videos. So, here you go. 1. Research the pageant you are thinking about doing. Every pageant is different! 2. Realize that you are going to be competing with many experienced pageant girls so be prepared. 3. Read over the interview questions before the pageant. 4. Select a dress that looks good on you and is age appropriate. 5. If it really matters, get a pageant coach to help you. 6. Research the girls that have won the pageant. This will give you an idea of what they are looking for. 7. Have a goal of placing in the top 10, not winning the pageant. You gain much needed respect by placing in the top 10. 8. Do a lot of pageants. This is how you get good at them. 9. Be a good loser. The pageant director and judges are watching you. The National Queen was the emcee at my daughter's farewell pageant. Many of the girls that did not place top 15 were very standoff-ish, but my daughter got to really know her. After the pageant, my daughter received a message from the Pageant founder about how beautiful and poised she was on stage and the other National queens talked about how nice she was to them. 10. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!
