It started off like this:

My Highschool friends have begun to suspect I haven't told them the full story of my life.

"Why did you leave Sierra Leone?"

"Because there is a war."

"Did you witness some of the fighting?"

"Yes, all the time."

I smile a little.

"You should tell us about it sometime."

"Yes, sometime."

And that is the prologue. He starts off in New York at like age 17 or something (for the prologue) but when you read the first couple of pages he's 12 years old and in Sierra leone.
