The overall theme of Foulchers poem "Harry Wood" is that he highlights the tanacity, resiliance and commitment of a general "Aussie Battler". Although, the poem may also be expressing a fatal human flaw. Prehaps that Foulcher is conveying the lust for power in "Harry Wood", in which we won't let anyone or anything (even death) to get in the way of monetary gains. It really is up to you how you interpret it :)
