The first major internal conflict shown throughout the entire story is Oedipus's excessive pride, or hubris. He believes so fully in himself that he thinks he can, in a sense, "outsmart" the gods, causing his destiny to change. By the end of the story it comes to be clear that he is not nearly as powerful as he thought he was or as the gods and his fate was the same the oracle has predicted it to be: he would kill his father and marry his mother. Hope this helped!
