The most important feature of jazz is improvisation. different styles of jazz vary differently but what they all have in common in improvisation. Sometimes the improvisation will only be a short break that is a few bars in length, before some else takes over or the main melody returns, but at other times a whole piece can be largely improvised

Well, ballet is an extremely good workout, which is similar to hip hop, modern, jazz, tap, etc. You mainly work your legs in all of these types of dancing, which is another key similarity. Ballet is fairly similar to modern, you usually dance something that flows together, and you point your feet and stretch your legs a lot. On the other hand, hip hop, jazz, modern and tap have many sudden movements and you turn in a lot. If you're not a ballet dancer, it means your feet are parallel when dancing. Ballerinas dance with their heels pretty much touching and their toes pointing away from their body.
Various kicks, leaps, and turns

Key differences: the blues came first, is typically based on personal experience (or the artist's narrator's personal experience) and is a more intimate style that doesn't require a band. Jazz, on the other hand, which followed blues since the blues evolved much earlier, was considered dance music, and performed by bands. Improvisation is a cornerstone of jazz, but jazz, like popular music, has fragmented into many styles.
