Tybalt was Juliet's cousin. The Capulet's had some big beef with Romeo's family. It was like the bloods and the crips of the time. They were ready to throw down upon sight for no reason other than that. So Romeo was trying to be cool with everybody because he wanted to be with Juliet but knew her family wasn't going to be aight with this gnomesayin? Basically, Tybalt was a dick and that was his motivation.

The best answer by far^^^^ loled.
