In 'Macbeth,' prior to the war, Macbeth is given prophecies which he considers make him pretty much invincible. However, the prophecies have hidden meaning. For example, he is told that he will have trouble only if Birnam Woods come to him. Macbeth feels its impossible for the woods to come after him. However, the oncoming soldiers take branches from the wood to use as camouflage. He is also told that no man born of woman can kill him. Again, he thinks all men are born of women, so he's invincible. However, right before Macduff cuts off Macbeth's head, he tells him he was basically ripped from his mother's body by Caesarian section.

In the play 'Macbeth', there were at least three wars. One was the war against Macdonwald the traitor. He was killed by Macbeth [c. 1014-August 15, 1057]. Another was the war against the Thane of Cawdor and King Sven Knutson [c. 1016-1035] ka Sweno of Norway. Cawdor was executed. King Sweno had to pay a pretty price to recover the bodies of his dead invading Norwegians for proper burial. Still another was the war against Macbeth. The opposing forces were organized in England with the support of King Edward II the Confessor [c. 1003-January 5, 1066]. They were joined by discontented Scotsmen in England and Scotland. The leaders were Siward, Earl of Northumberland and General of the English forces; and the future King Malcolm III [d. November 13, 1093] of Scotland.

Themental struggle of Macbeth over whether or not to kill King Duncan I was a conflict of Act 1 Scenes 4-5 in the Shakespearean play.

The physical struggle between Macbeth and his intended victims [the King and two royal guards] was a conflict of Act 2 Scene 2. Another physical struggle, between Banquo and the three hired thugs, was a conflict of Act 3 Scene 3. Still another physical struggle, between Macduff's family and another set of hired thugs, was a conflict of Act 4 Scene 2. Yet other physical struggles, between Macbeth and Siward and then between Macbeth and Macduff, were conflicts of Act 5 Scenes 7 and 9 respectively.

The verbal struggle between Macbeth and his Lady was a conflict of Act 1 Scene 7. Another verbal struggle, between Macbeth and the noble Scotsmen Lennox and Ross over whether or not the royal seat already was occupied at the banquet table, was a conflict of Act 3 Scene 4. Still another verbal struggle between Macduff, the future King Malcolm III [d. November 13, 1093], and the noble Scotsman Ross over the exact nature of organized opposition to Macbeth was a conflict of Act 4 Scene 3.

Political conflit- Civil war

Inner Conflict- Macbeths turmoil (regret, guilt)

Conflict between characters-Macbeth and Lady Macbeth (at times) Macbeth and Macduff

The reign of Macbeth, king of Scotland, in the eleventh century, was the basis for Shakespeare's play. The totally inaccurate version of King Macbeth's peaceful 17 year reign is due to the account given in Raphael Holinshed's Chronicles, from which Shakespeare took his story.

The battle in Act 1 of the play 'Macbeth' was a model of how Macbeth [d. August 15, 1057] should have continued to lead his life. In that battle, he and his best friend and fellow Captain Banquo faced insurmountable odds in the defense of their king and their country. They were opposed by large forces of invading Norwegians and treacherous Scotsmen. The battle was bloody, treacherous, and violent. Nevertheless, the two fought together courageously, fearlessly, and loyally. But that brave, faithful and straightforward teamship didn't last. Instead, Macbeth went in a completely different direction. He became the traitor to his king, his friends, and his country. He became the proponent, not the opponent, of blood, treachery, and violence. He became the creator, not the alleviator, of division, pain, and suffering to the entire Scottish nation.

Lots of bad weather. Chimneys were blown down. Duncan's horses did eat each other. (I'm not sure how they managed that.)
