Women were considered very motherly and weren't even aloud on stage. They weren't even considered capable of having such evil thoughts, so it was very shocking to the people of the time who would have expected women to be more of housewives e.t.c

Lady Macbeth [b. c. 1015] first appeared in Act 1 Scene 5 of the Shakespearean play. Her appearance was not at all flattering. She read a letter in which her husband advised her of the sudden plans of King Duncan I [d. August 14, 1040] to spend the night at their home, Inverness Castle. Macbeth [c. 1014-August 15, 1057] also revealed his unexpected receipt of the powerful title and prosperous properties of the disgraced Thane of Cawdor. And he shared the witches' predictions of a royal career move. Lady Macbeth focused on the possibilities of a royal future, and began plotting how to bring that about as soon as possible. She quickly rejected slower, fairer measures for quicker, heinous means. So she came off as ambitious, cruel, grasping, greedy, opportunistic, ruthless, scheming, and tunnel-visioned. It wasn't an appealing or attractive appearance at all.

Well, of course she is based (EXTREMELY loosely) on a real person who lived five hundred years before Shakespeare's day. The portrayal of historical figures in Shakespeare's time was very much like the portrayal of historical figures in film and on television today. Although they are intended to be someone who lived a long time ago in another place, they act and think exactly like 21st century people from the USA (or whatever other country the show is produced in). So although Lady Macbeth is in superficial ways an eleventh century Scotswoman, at a deeper level she is a seventeenth century Englishwoman, and at an even deeper level, she is a familiar type no matter what the time or place--the kind of person who does not do things him- or herself, but persuades others to do them.

Look like the innocent flower but be the serpent under?

Macbeth needs to look innocent, but underneath his fake appearance, he needs to be bold, determined, and deadly. Lady Macbeth is also telling Macbeth to pretend to be a friend, when he is actually the enemy, or to act like he is honest, when he is actually deceitful. When Lad Macbeth says, "But be the serpent underneath it", Lady Macbeth might be referring to herself, that she is the serpent under Macbeth, and that Macbeth is the mask, or screen, which diverts attention from Lady Macbeth. It shows how Macbeth needs to be the nice to Duncan to prove his innocence even though he has agreed to kill him- appearances can be deceiving.

In the book Macbeth by William shakespeare how are Macbeth actions different from lady Macbeth actions?

Macbeth does the things he does(like kill Duncan) because Macbeth is manipulated and coaxed by Lady Macbeth to do them. On his own, he would not have done so even though he was ambitious. Lady Macbeth, does the manipulating and all the cruel lines that she says are of her own accord. Nobody forces her, she choses to become evil while Macbeth is forced to become evil.
