Tybalt's goal was to get into fights to show off his fighting skills. That is why he really bought into the feud although it wasn't really his family that was involved (his auntie had married a Capulet). He was looking forward to a fight with Romeo, but when Mercutio insisted, he was content to fight with him instead.

We hope that he had more on his mind than this, but the only reason he appears in the play is that he is interested in marrying Juliet. He does pursue this particular goal.
