There wasn't one. The two leading members of the company, Richard and Cuthbert Burbage, owned a number of theatres, and called on members of the Lord Chamberlain's Men, later the King's Men to contribute to the cost of building and refurbishing in exchange for a share of the profits. They did this with two theatres, the Globe in 1599 and the Blackfriars in 1608. Shakespeare was one of the few that chose to invest. Only four actors other than the Burbages chose to invest in the Globe, at a time when the company would have stood at about a dozen men.
