We don't know because we do not have any account by Shakespeare of how he got started in the business. But assuming he got started as an actor he must have seen that they were playing new plays all the time and someone was writing them. Who knows who said to him, "Will, you write a pretty good Sonnet. Why not try writing a play"?

That answer is not valid because William Shakespear lived from 1564-1616 but Columbus wasn't alive then, he had lived from 1451-1506,Christopher died Fifty-Eight years before William Shakespear was born
He also influenced many writers today. For example, he influenced Stephine Meyer to write New Moon and Breaking Dawn.

∙ 14y agoHe influenced the epic poetry of John Milton. Milton uses Shakespeare's form of iambic pentameter in his epic poem paradise lost. He also uses many of Shakespeare's other methods which at this time have slipped my mind.

∙ 13y agoShakespeare's poetry was influenced by the poets of his day. The sonnet form, which he primarily used, was a conventional form for love-poetry.
His plays were also influenced by his contemporaries. From Thomas Kyd, he learned that revenge plays could be hugely successful. Marlowe, following the lead given by Norton and Sackville, had popularized the use of blank verse in plays.
