This is generally accepted to be a reference in a pamphlet called "Greene's Groatsworth of Wit" published in 1592 which goes as follows: "Yes, trust them not: for there is an vpstart Crow, beautified with our feathers, that with his Tygers hart wrapt in a Players hyde, supposes he is as well able to bombast out a blanke verse as the best of you: and being an absolute Iohannes fac totum, is in his owne conceit the onely Shake-scene in a country." The italicised phrase "Tyger's hart wrapt in a Players hyde" is thought to be an allusion to the line in Shakespeare's Henry VI Part 3, "O, tyger's heart wrapped in a woman's hide". There really is no coherent explanation for the capitalized "Shake-scene" apart from the obvious one that it is making fun of the name of William Shakespeare, the actor and playwright.
