We do not have anything like a complete account of where and when Shakespeare's or anyone else's plays were written, except for occasional mentions in diaries and court records. Here are some examples of performances which we have documented.

They have been performed all over the world constantly for the last 400 years.
Even during his lifetime documented performances of the plays took place in various theatres, in the hall of the Law School, in people's private houses, at the royal palace and even on board a ship anchored off the coast of Africa. The performances took place in the afternoon (if outdoors) or the evening (if indoors).
