According to Wikipedia he died "...at the age of eleven (possibly from the Bubonic Plague)..." although in Germaine Greer's biog of Anne Shakespeare she points out that there was no evidence of plague in Stratford at the time Hamnet died, so actually plague is less likely than other possible causes.

∙ 14y agoHamnet died at the age of eleven, he was buried in Stratford on 11 August 1596. At that time in England, about a third of all children died before age 10, so his young death was not an anomaly for the time.

He and his twin sister, Judith were baptised on 2nd February 1585.
There were no official records of births at that time but it was customary for a baptism to take place shortly after birth.
