The fifteenth (15th) century B.C.E. may have been the founding date of Thebes.
Specifically, Theban King Thersander is a Trojan War contemporary if not Trojan horse participant. He is Polyneices' son, King Oedipus' grandson, King Laius' great-grandson, King Labdacus' great-great-grandson, King Polydorus' great-great-great-grandson and Founder King Cadmus' great-great-great-great-grandson. Let us give each of these individuals an age of 25-30 when they become fathers and let us accept the dates of 1194 B.C.E. - 1184 B.C.E. as the years of the Trojan War. We therefore end up with a range of 155-210 years before the war by multiplying 25-30 years by seven individuals. This in fact agrees with the Mycenean Age (1600 B.C.E. - 1100 B.C.E.) dating of artifacts at the Thebes archaeological site.
Thebes is the setting of Oedipus Rex because it is the place where the story begins.
Laius and Jocasta are king and queen of Thebes at the time of Oedipus' birth in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Jocasta is not a king's daughter. But she becomes queen as a direct descendant of Thebes' founding King Cadmus and through her marriage to her cousin Laius. Laius is king because he too is descended from Cadmus and because he is Theban King Labdacus' son.

Teiresias is the seer in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. -- 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Teiresias is the blind seer of Thebes. He is Thebes' wisest citizen because of his vast experience and expertise. His experience includes advice to every king since Thebes' founding by Theban King Oedipus' great-great-grandfather Cadmus. His expertise extends from divine blessings (despite equally divine curses) to innate knowledge to skills in interpreting divine will as expressed in ritual sacrifices.
Thebes was the land that Oedipus ruled.
The legend is that Cadmus, in search of his abducted sister Europa, settled in Boeotia, founding the city of Cadmea, later called Thebes.
Pelasgus was not one of the original 5 Spartoi - who assisted Cadmus in the founding of Thebes.
Jocasta is the Queen of Thebes and the mother of Oedipus in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Jocasta is Theban Queen because of her first marriage to King Laius. Jocasta and Laius also are related as cousins who descend from Thebes' founding King Cadmus, but by different grandchildren. They are the reluctant parents of their son Oedipus, whom they try to kill.
