A movement led by Desert Opera Theater and Palmdale repertory Theater grew to convert the old Maryott Auditorium into a full performing arts center. Construction crews broke ground in April 1993, and by September 1994, the award-winning 348-seat design was built, including office space, concessions, an orchestra pit, and a workshop.
