The number of days and months
Tracing in anxiety
Through the mirror of my mind
The image of the infant
I couldn't help
But leave behind
Her coos and cry
Are now all echoes
Being reviewed in my skull
Hopelessly capturing a sight
Of her growing up
An unfolding so beautiful
That I will never witness
At all.
