Where did people go to see shows before TV?

In Shakespeare's own time, his earliest play were probably performed at Burbage's Theater in Shoreditch and possibly the nearby Curtain Playhouse; from 1599 on at The Globe at Bankside during the summer months, and after 1608 his company also performed at Blackfriars during their Winter Season.

Before television was invented, people went to see live theater performances (and they still do!) of plays and musicals. Then, as now, people would also attend music concerts. People also, of course, went to see silent movies and later, movies with sound.
