Innyards provided a convenient space: a stage could be built into the courtyard and people could watch from the inn's balconies or from the ground. There was one main entrance to the innyard which made it easy to make sure everyone paid. The first theatres in England were all based on the design of innyards.
none because his plays sucked
In 1567 the first purpose-built theatre in England was built. Before that time, acting companies had to go on tour and play on such makeshift stages as might be available, in rich people's houses, town halls and innyards. Innyard theatres, which continued in operation well into the 1600s, were the model for the early playhouses. Most acting companies continued to play in such makeshift spaces even after the purpose-built theatres were built because there were many more companies than theatres. Even nowadays, acting companies on tour will play anywhere they can set up. That tradition is far from dead.
If you are talking about William Shakespeare, he retired from acting about 400 years ago. He was involved with several acting companies in his early career before 1594, including Derby's, Strange's and Pembroke's, but in 1594 he became a charter member of a new company called at various times Lord Hunsdon's Men, The Lord Chamberlain's Men and the King's Men, and he stayed with them until his retirement from acting.
Never had a real job. Wanted to be a Priest before acting. Occupation is pretending to someone in fantasy that he is not in real life.
Nobody knows this.

Somewhat before Shakespeare's day, actors had a bad rep because they were transient and put on their little shows at fairs and innyards and so on. They didn't make much by it and supplemented their income by stealing. But this changed in around 1570 or so, when members of the nobility began to sponsor acting companies, and permanent theatres started to be built. Permanent theatres meant that actors did not usually have to tour around, and thus acquired roots and visibility as members of the community. The patronage of a noble or royal person protected the actors from harassment and prosecution.
