Shakespeare's company was connected with The Theater and The Curtain prior to 1600, and they may also have been associated with the playhouse at the Bel Savage Inn. They often played at court over Christmas, and in manor houses for private performances, also in the courtyards of inns when touring. The Globe became their public playhouse in 1600, and the company used the private theater, Blackfriars, as their Winter home starting in 1608. The Globe burned down in 1613, but was rebuilt bigger and better, and reopened the next year. Shakespeare died in 1616. The company continued to perform at The Globe in the Summer and Blackfriars in the Winter until the Puritans closed all the theaters in 1642.
