1598 - Dafne, libretto by Ottavio Rinuccini, music principally by Jacopo Peri with some assistance from Corsi. It was premiered before a private audience, and received a few repeat performances in the following years. Unfortunately we only know about it through second-hand references; only a few fragments of the music have survived.
1600 - Euridice, libretto also by Rinuccini and music also by Jacopo Peri (with some additions by Giacomo Caccini, who composed his own complete version that was premiered in 1602). This is the oldest surviving example of a complete Opera.
1607 - Orfeo, libretto by Alessandro Striggio, music by Claudio Monteverdi. This is subjective, but I think most would agree that this was the first opera to use recitatives, arias, and choruses in an effective manner that gives both variety and formal organization. It is also the earliest opera that is still performed for its own merits, not just for historical interest. Though not the first, it is arguably the true ancestor of the opera as we know it.
