Because in is time they were known to dig up graves and dump the remains somewhere so he put a curse on his grave so that no one would dig him up. Of course, Shakespeare did not put the verse on his grave; people cannot bury themselves. It was the members of his family that inscribed the verse there.
"Good friend for Jesus sake forbear; To dig the dust enclosed here! Blest be the man that spares these stones, And curst be he that moves my bones," was the 'curse' inscribed on William Shakespeare's tombstone.
No. The epitaph engraved on his grave says that anyone who moves his bones will be cursed, not that his grave is cursed in any way. The epitaph was almost certainly not written by Shakespeare anyway--how many of us write our own epitaphs? And besides, the epitaph is awful poetry; Shakespeare would have done a better job.
Do you mean, what poem is cursed? Macbeth the play is supposed to be cursed, but I have never heard of a poem being cursed. Or do you mean, what poem of Shakespeare's contains a curse? In Rape of Lucrece, Lucrece curses Tarquin pretty roundly. Or do you mean, what poem puts a curse in Shakespeare's mouth? Well, his epitaph for one.
Father: John Shakespeare, died September 1601 Mother: Mary Arden, died 1608
John Shakespeare died in 1601
Susanna Shakespeare was 66 years old when she died and Judith Shakespeare was 77 when she died.Hamnet only 11 he died from the black plague.
The inscription, on a stone near Shakespeare's grave, is a plea not to disturb his bones, and a curse on anyone who does. He did want his bones moved to the charnel house near to the church.
