She claims that Elizabeth's spirit did this, so they go such the proctors house for a poppet (rag doll), which represents Abigail. when they find the poppet there is a needle stuck in its stomach so that is enough evidence to get Elizabeth arrested. (that poppet was made by Mary Warren, their slave, and was given to Elizabeth the day before.
oki well in the crucible there were a few witness of the girls dancing in the forest which led to suspension. then the villagers were questioning the girls until someone confessed which was Tituba. just like any investigation they wanted to get the whole story so they questioned more people. the evidence was a poppet (little doll) that Mary warren had an left at Elizabeth's house. but that was really the only evidence besides lies the girls told.

It's important because it sets up Elizabeth, John proctor's wife. Abigail planted the needle, to "set-up" Elizabeth so she's accused and killed. But instead John Proctor dies at the end not Elizabeth Proctor

The act of making a poppet and giving it to Elizabeth foreshadows Abigail's malicious intent towards Elizabeth. By associating the poppet with Elizabeth, Abigail is indirectly framing her for witchcraft and setting the stage for Elizabeth's accusation of witchcraft later in the play.
