Krupke and Schrank are the police officers.
Most characters in West Side Story sing in chorus or solo. The exceptions are Officer Krupke and Doc.
He is a priest and is not related to either rival clan. There is, probably for censorship reasons, no paralell character in West Side Story, unless one counts Officer ( also referred to as Sergeant) Krupke. He is obviously a cop.
Pony boy is from the outsiders, not west side story.
She's doing well and was seen at the 50th Anniversary of West Side Story.
I only learned of this a few minutes ago but ther play was more violent- a woman ( Anita) was killed by one of the gangsters- a guy named Diesel. In the movie she survives but is a walk-off scene type of character at this stage of the plot, before the major battle or rumble. There are no female casualties in the movie version. It is not clear whether Officer Krupke is a regular patrolman or a sergeant- the song uses both titles.
Gee, I think it's kindly Officer Krupke!

In the original 1957 Broadway production of "West Side Story," the song "Gee, Officer Krupke" was performed by the character Action and the Jets gang members. The role of Action was originally played by actor and singer Ken LeRoy. In the 1961 film adaptation, the song was performed by the character of Action, portrayed by actor and singer Michael Callan.
A male jet who doesn't actually speak a script, but only sings in songs. I believe though that he has a singing/speaking part in 'Gee, Officer Krupke', where he immitates Krupke.
His name is Officer Krupke and he has a song later in the show.
No. The movie "The Young Savages" was released in 1961, whereas "West Side Story" first debuted on Broadway in 1957, and appeared on film in 1961, making it impossible for "Officer Krumpke" to be based off of "The Yoing Savages"
