For most of the period of his life that we know about, Shakespeare was self-employed in a partnership relationship with other actors. Their partnership was called the Lord Chamberlain's Men, and later The King's Men. During this period, Shakespeare had no "boss". Before 1594, he worked with several theatre companies as a hired actor, which meant he was an employee, entitled only to a wage and not to a share in the profits, if any, of the company. Some of the companies he might have been associated with in his early career are the Queen's Men, Lord Strange's Men, Pembroke's Men, Derby's Men and Sussex's Men. His "boss" would have been the partners running whatever company he was working for. We have no clue whatsoever what kind of work he did in Stratford before becoming a part of the theatre world.

Revenge on former boss?

One of the worst things that can happen to anyone (including your awful current or former boss), is to lose your job, or think that you're about to. Heres a niffty way to get revenge on your former boss, and mess with their mind: Write a well written help wanted ad, and post it on Craig's list. The job posting should be for your boss'es position, and pay well. Be sure to indicate that applicants should be discreet, as this is to 'replace a current employee'. If possible, have applicants sent coverletters, and resumes attention to the current HR person at the corporate level, but have the fax number listed on the job posting belonging to your evil boss. This should mess with Her mind!!!
